Evaluation of hardware-based IPsec processing method for embedded devices

(in English) Cryptographic offload engine is a solution to reduce the CPU load and improve the throughput of IPsec. However, since using offload engine involves some overhead such as interrupt processing, when dealing with small packets, the throughput may be higher when offload engine is not used. Thus, there is a method to decide whether or not to use offload
engine based on packet size. Through the performance evaluation of
IPsec, we have studied the efficiency and discovered the problem of the method.
