In future wireless communication system, an extremely high spectrum efficient transmission technology is required. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which uses a number of narrow band sub-carriers, and multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA), which combines OFDM and frequency-domain spreading, have been attracting much attention. We have previously derived the channel capacity expression for MC-CDMA in a frequency-selective fading channel and showed that MC-CDMA provides a slightly higher capacity than OFDM if inter-code interference (ICI) cancellation is perfect. A combination of multi-carrier transmission and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission is essential to achieve a very high speed data transmission with a limited bandwidth. In this paper, we extend the previous study to MC-CDMA MIMO multiplexing. We compare the channel capacity of MC-CDMA MIMO with those of other multi antenna system, i.e., space-time block code-multiple-input single output (STBC-MISO) and single-input multiple-output (SIMO). |
