[Invited Talk] Research Activities in KDDI R&D Laboratories on Mobile/Ubiquitous Network toward IMS/MMD

(in English) NGN (Next Generation Network), which is based on ALL IP network, attracts great attention as it will realize advanced services and ensure QoS. IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) / MMD (Multimedia Domain) is core functionality of NGN control plane and supports session control and user management based on SIP. In order to support FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) services in NGN, it is important to realize efficient terminal mobility taking account of IMS/MMD architecture. It is also desired to support flexible switching of user terminals, networks and applications according to user’s situations and preferences. In this report, we describe an outline of IMS/MMD and introduce our research activities related to the above issues.
