In the past few years, the radio frequency (RF) devices, which are usually hold in the vicinity of a human body, are increasing, the specific absorption rate (SAR) evaluation of the fetus in the pregnant woman is one of the most important research themes that needs to be taken under consideration. For example, when the wireless radio terminal for business purposes is used on the abdomen of pregnant woman, the electromagnetic wave of this devices penetrates to the deep region of the human body especially the fetus, because the wavelength of the electromagnetic wave of the device operated in VHF band is longer than that of the cellular phone operated at GHz band. In this paper, in order to evaluate the SAR in the pregnant woman and her fetus when wearing the wireless radio terminal on her abdomen, the SAR distribution in the fetus is calculated using the numerical model of the pregnant woman by exposed to near-field of a normal mode helical antenna (NHA) with a metallic case at 150 MHz. In addition, the SAR in the fetus will be evaluated under various positions of the fetus and placenta. As a result, it has been confirmed that the position of NHA affects a substantial change in the tendency of the SAR distribution in deep region of the maternal body. In addition, it has been found that the fetus averaged SAR when the placenta is in the an-tenna side is lower than that is in the maternal back side. |
