| (in English) | This paper describes retransmission of the terrestrial digital broadcasting through WINDS multi-beam satellite. The study is aiming at fusion of communications and broadcasting by improving satellite channel efficiency. The vacant bandwidth of the broadcast contents is assigned to the internet use. Local broadcasting stations send only local news and commercial programs and other TV programs from key stations are separately send to subscribers. Therefore bandwidth, assigned to local broadcast stations, becomes vacant during the time period of TV programs from key stations. In orders low cost implementation, local broadcast signals and key station signals are kept on broadcasting even under switched-off time periods by using reduced information pictures. Therefore, intensive studies have been carried out on H.264 VBR (Variable Bit Rate) encoded pictures and lead to possible approaches. This paper also reports trial results by using the SCOPE-C experiment facilities of the Kochi University of Technology. | |
