[Invited Talk] Research Overview toward New Generation Network

(in English) We introduce an overview of US and EU’s research activities toward “New Generation Network” and show related NEC’s research activities for this. Currently, several research activities targeting at “New Generation network” and testbed system activities for evaluating these research results are widely started, some of which are GENI and FIND projects of NSF in USA and 4WARD and TRILOGY of FP7 in EU. These activities, in general, consider to add several technology sets, virtualization, programmability, and modularity into the network for creating a new internet architecture and for a flexible platform for evaluating the new internet architecture. The overview of these is explained in this paper. In addition, we explain the NEC’s research activities for New Generation Network, especially for the perspective of network architecture and node architecture, and describe future expectations toward New Generation Network.
