Imbalanced Power Allocation with Iterative Demodulation to Reduce IBI for Block Signal Transmissions Associated with Pseudo-Inverse Matrix Equalizer

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we propose an imbalanced power allocation to compensate for interblock interference (IBI) for block signal transmissions associated with pseudo-inverse matrix equalizer. With the proposed method, data blocks are classified into odd/even ones according to their block indexes. In transmitter, we intentionally reduce transmit power of even data blocks and keep that of odd blocks unchanged whereby IBIs from the even blocks to the neighboring odd data blocks can be mitigated. In receiver, we use an iterative demodulation process. An odd data block is demodulated first without considering the weak IBIs due to the neighboring even data blocks with reduced transmit power. Then, the demodulated odd data block is used to help to remove its own IBI that interferes with the next even data block. Finally, the even data block from which the IBI has been removed is demodulated. After that, the demodulated odd/even blocks help each other to make a more accurate demodulation iteratively. Simulation results show that accuracy in symbol detections is improved due to higher SINR of the odd data blocks and the reduced IBI in the even data blocks.
