V-I Characteristics Equation for Break Arc at Carbon Electrodes -- Comparison between Newly Proposed Equation and Ayrton's Equation --

(in English) On {\it V-I }characteristics of arc at cabon electrodes, Mrs Ayrton's reserach is famous and the Ayrton equation is well known. However, this equation is based on the results measured with stable arcs; the electrode gap is 1 mm or more and static; the arc current is 2 A or more and constant. For this reason, the author thought it uncertain whether the Ayrton equation is applicable to arcs at break contacts, and made another {\it V-I }characteristic equation for carbon arcs, based on the original measurement; the electrode gap is 1 mm or less and static; the arc current is decreasing from 5 A. The result is already published. The present study deals with the calculation of arc voltage and current at interruption of 5 A or less closed current in an inductive circuit; the source voltage is 10 VDC and the inductance 5 mH. The calculation was made by both author's equation and Ayrton equation; and the results were compared with measured ones.
