A Science Education Support System based on Drainage Rate of Rock

(in English) In Science education in Primary schools and junior high school, students sometimes handle the object
of learning issues, such as flower, water, metal, rock, and so on. Even though they can know the characteristics of
them touching and observing the objects, it is difficult for them to know the concrete features and the phenomena
related with the objects. To solve the problem, we propose a novel learning support system through the qualitative
simulation based on rock property and discharging water. The simulation gives the qualitative result where young
students can understand the natural phenomena of geographical issues. Our proposed simulator handles relation
ship between heavy rain and effects of it against ground. The simulator can be also applied the science education
support system since the users can view the qualitative status as simulation results. Qualitative modeling used in
the qualitative simulation is designed on the simplification of characteristics and property. Thus, our system is easy
to operate and also can be utilized as rock learning in science education.
