A study on loop-tube type thermoacoustic cooling system for practical use

In this report, a design method of loop-tube type thermoacoustic cooling system with diverging tube for the low temperature driving is proposed. At first, We focus on sound field within a loop-tube and temperature of top of a prime mover stack when position of diverging tube was changed. Experimental conditions were certain input heat energy and temperature of bottom of a stack. As results, position of diverging tube was adjusted, energy conversion efficiency from the heat energy to sound energy was increased. In addition, temperature of top of a prime mover stack was decreased about 500 degrees C, from 845 degrees C to 345 degrees C, compared with no-diverging tube. It was considered that phase difference between pressure and particle velocity at a prime mover stack was improved. Next, We focus on sound field with and without diverging tube when input heat energy was changed. The system with diverging tube was driven by low input energy, because energy conversion efficiency was increased. |
