Image Mosaicing Method with EM Algorithm Allowing Moving Objects

(in English) Image mosaicing is an effective means of constructing a photograph with a wide field of view from a series of images taken in different viewing angles. In the case of congested traffic scenes with a cluttered environment including vehicles or pedestrians, there are severe difficulties in registration to match two or more images. This paper deals with three types of methods for implementing a practical technique of image mosaicing: registration is performed based on Homographies, Expectation-Maximization(EM) algorithm is adopted to refine the Homography estimation by removing a specific image region including moving objects, and Dijkstra's algorithm is utilized for determining the boundaries where the image pair is inconsistent. Experimental results indicate that the proposed technique is effective to synthesize a reasonable image with wide field of view from a series of small-size images.
