On Information Flow Analysis for Recursive Programs Based on Self-Composition
Nobuhiro Itoh, Hiroyuki Seki (NAIST) SS2007-63
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) An information flow analysis method based on self-compositon has been proposed that compensates for the impreciseness of type-based methods. Terauch and Aiken proposed a new analysis method (called TA method) that combines the two methods. In this paper, TA method is extended in two ways so that recursive programs can be analysed. One of the proposed methods uses a type assignment given by hand so that we can use a finite-state model checker
to verify the program obtained by self-composition. The other method translates a given program into a self-composed program without removing recursive calls, and uses a PDS (pushdowm system) model checker to verify the obtained program. Also, the analysis power and efficiency of the two methods are evaluated based on the experiments by using BLAST as a finite-state model checker and Moped as a PDS model checker.
