Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Both increasing the chances of frame transmission by raising carrier sense level and the suppressing asynchronous interference signals are the requirements for a significant enhancement of the area-spectral efficiency of random-access wireless systems based on CSMA/CA. Recently, the authors have proposed a pre-FFT type MMSE adaptive array antenna with iterative weight update for OFDM systems in order to suppress asynchronous interference effectively. They have also constructed a multi-node link-level simulation tool based on the IEEE 802.11g ERP-OFDM system in order to evaluate the area-spectral efficiency of the random-access wireless system. It includes basic MAC layer processes of the DCF mode and a method of generating multipath channels among multiple nodes using 2-D raytracing simulations considering only transmission and reflection at walls. In this paper, the area-spectral efficiency enhancement of a random-access wireless system is evaluated through computer simulations assuming an indoor environment in which there is an LOS path only between nodes communicating each other. Simulation results show that a significant enhancement of the area-spectral efficiency can be achieved by disabling carrier sensing processes. It is also revealed that both a further enhancement of the area-spectral efficiency and an improvement of fairness can be brought by introducing the proposed adaptive array antenna to all nodes if a high transmission datarate is used.
