A lightweight signaling protocol with SIP proxy agent

(in English) The session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a widely accepted application-layer control protocol. It needs much network bandwidth and processing load although it has a number of advantages. Many research efforts has been made and has come up with various header compression algorithms to reduce the packet size not to waste scarce bandwidth especially for wireless access networks. However, they increase the processing load at the same time. We propose a lightweight SIP-friendly signaling protocol with SIP proxy agent which reduces network bandwidth without sacrificing the processing load. We expect it to be used for low-spec devices such as sensor nodes so that it could reduce energy consumption and lengthening battery life.
