Power-efficient and Low Latency Sensor Profile Gathering Scheme by DLNA/UPnP-ZigBee Gateway

This article describes the system in which a virtual sensor module, running on DLNA/UPnP-ZigBee gateway, is created for each ZigBee device for enabling interworking of a home network and a sensor network. DLNA/UPnP nodes notice that a ZigBee device is connected to the ZigBee network by discovering the virtual UPnP device on the gateway. The virtual UPnP device is created using sensor profile information by which ZigBee device attributes are defined, and is necessary to gather the profile information with some interval. This article proposes a new sensor profile information gathering scheme enabling power-efficiency and low latency considering the limited memory space of ZigBee devices. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is shown through simulation analysis. |
