A Rate Control Method for Improving the Efficiency of TCP in Bandwidth Guaranteed Network

(in English) In the Next Generation Network, a resource control function which guarantees the requested bandwidth for each service has been introduced. In particular, with the recent deployment of broadband access networks, the services which transfer a large data at high speeds with high reliability are expected to grow in the future. So, it is important for those services to allocate a bandwidth effectively. On the other hand, TCP which is used for those services has a feature that its throughput becomes sawtooth behavior due to its congestion control function triggered by a packet discard. As a result, a throughput of a TCP flow drops to less than a half of the guaranteed bandwidth in the network that a bandwidth for each flow is guaranteed by the inflow control with a packet discard. In this study, we propose a rate control method based on controlling advertised window to improve a throughput of a TCP flow in bandwidth-guaranteed network. We also evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method by using actual equipments.
