A new reproduction method using link information for efficient listening of audio contents

(in English) Techniques for high-Speed playback without changing the pitch is important and essential for efficient listening of audio contents. The methods of time scale modification (TSM) with waveform overlap-add techniques such as WSOLA are commonly used in this area. But such methods have a ploblem of the computational complexity. We propose a new reproduction method with which the information of the overlapping points (we call this information ”link”) is attached to the contents before playing, and the link describing the best destination is selected from many links conisidering the user's request about playing speed. Using this scheme, we can not only reduce the the computational complexity but also present an excellent reproduction plan such as very high-speed reproduction, e.g., four times faster reproduction without the lack of the story of the contents for users using various links such as skipping unnecessary part of the contents. This paper describes the theory of the reproduction method with links, and demonstrates the usefulness of this method with experimental results.
