In this paper simple but efficient SINR-based dynamic spectrum access algorithm is proposed. Performance of the proposed SINR-based dynamic spectrum access algorithm is compared to the performance of SINR-based vertical handover algorithm using simulation of composite wireless access network. In this paper, the difference between vertical handover scenario and dynamic spectrum access scenario is as follows. For vertical handover scenario, only one connection can exist simultaneously. For dynamic spectrum access scenario, several simultaneous connections can exist in parallel. For both vertical handover and dynamic spectrum access algorithms, total transmission power is kept the same for fair comparison. It is shown that SINR-based dynamic spectrum access algorithm has considerable gain in network throughput and user throughput compared to SINR-based vertical handover algorithm. |
