A few frequency components of largest energy of a signal is useful as a digest data representing a feature of the signal. In 2002, Gilbert etal. proposed a probabilistic algorithm which samples the signal points at random and estimates $B \ll N$ Fourier coefficients of the largest energy of the signal. The computational complexity depends on $N$
polylogarithmically. In 2005, Zou etal. presented an improved version of the algorithm as well as an implementation reporting that it is more efficient than FFT when 8 major Fourier coefficients should be found from the signal of 100000 points or more. For practical use of these algorithms, called RAlSFA (Randomized Algorithm for Sparse Fourier transform Analysis), a detailed research on the influence of the selection of various paramters on the running-time or the accuracy is necessary.
In this report, we give an implementation of RAlSFA to do the datailed research. Especially, it is proposed to change the boxcar filter in Identification step (a process that identifies the major frequency) to the Equiripple filter. An example of run is shown, in which the proposed method has the success probability of Identification that is higher by 15 percentage points than the original method, with the same number of sampling points and about 1\% longer running time. |
