The effect of gaze recognition on horizontal distribution of attentional field

(in English) We are attracted to eyes. For example, we can respond the target appearing in the previously cued location faster than that in the uncued location - "cueing effect." In the most of the previous studies on this effect, targets appear at one point on either of the cued or uncued direction. In this research, targets appear at several points on each of the cued or uncued direction so that we can see the attentional field elicited by gaze cues. We also compared the effect with that of nonbiological cues (arrows) and that of no-cue condition. Experimental results illustrated the gradient of attention from the fixation point and the gradient of inducing effect. It was also suggested that gaze cues facilitate the attention more than arrow cues as a whole.
