Synthesis of novel organic nonlinear optical ionic crystal -- Synthesis of DAST derivatives --

(in English) The Optical information processing technology has progressed as volume of information increases. The nonlinear optical material is paid to attention as a material of the optical switch indispensable information processing. Organic nonlinear optical crystal DAST has much attention because of its large nonlinear optical property. It was difficult to obtain necessary thin single DAST crystal to make it to the optical device though the DAST crystals were usually obtained from saturated solution of the methanol by slow cooling. We succeeded in the growth of DAST single crystal by using the ionic liquid for the first time as a solvent. The thin single crystal of DAST could be grown between the two plates from ionic liquid solution. We also succeeded in the synthesis of DAST derivative by the ion exchange from ionic liquid solution.
