Power handling capability of sliced micro strip line filters using NbN thin films

(in English) Sliced microstrip line resonator (MSLR) filters were designed and fabricated using epitaxial NbN thin films for use as high-power transmit filters in mobile communication systems. Frequency responses and power handling capability of the sliced MSLR filter were compared with that of the non-sliced MSLR filter. From the characterization of the crystallinity, critical temperature, and surface resistance, the NbN thin films were fabricated by a reactive DC magnetron sputtering on MgO(100) substrates, which were enough to use the filters. The frequency responses of the 3-pole sliced and non-sliced MSLR filters were nearly agree with designed responses. The power handling capability of the 3-pole sliced MSLR filter was approximately 2.5 dBm larger than that of the 3-pole non-sliced MSLR filter. This result indicates that the slices of the resonators were one of effective approach to improve the power handling capability.
