[Invited Talk] Development of Superconducting Filter for Meteorological Radar Systems

(in English) We are developing frequency narrowing technology in order to narrow the bandwidth of 5 GHz-band meteorological radar systems, since it is assumes that the 5 GHz band will be vacated for 5 GHz-band wireless LAN systems according to “Guidelines for radio spectrum reallocation” that was announced by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. We have developed a superconducting bandpass filter for the receiver in order to reduce interference between adjacent channels. The superconducting filter is comprised of 1.5-wavelength microstrip hairpin resonators and has 8-pole quasi-elliptic function response. The target specifications of the superconducting filter are center frequency of 5370 MHz, reduction at 1.9-MHz detuning of higher than 30dB, insertion loss of lower than 2.5dB, which have been experimentally satisfied.
