Implementation and Evaluation of Gateway Aggregation Protocol with OLSRv2

(in English) When a mobile node (MN) in Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) communicates with a node in Internet, several mobile nodes may have the interface to the Internet and work as Internet Gateways (IGWs). In this case, it is necessary to seek a method that decreases the number of hops and the overhead maintaining the communication. In the proposed Gateway Aggregation Protocol (GAP), only one IGW advertises the default route to MANET in principle. In case that two or more MANETs get merged, IGWs create tunnel with each other and advertise the default routes via tunnel to MNs. As a result, it is possible to distribute the overhead in MANET to the external network. Moreover, MNs can keep using the prefix configured once, and do not need to change it even if it moves. We have implemented GAP with Optimized Link State Protocol version 2 (OLSRv2). We compare the performance of GAP with that of non-switching method and show the effectiveness of GAP.
