Inside-Out Structure for Koto and Its Feasibility Study

(in English) Abstract: Traditionally Koto has been structured as its strings span over the bridges (kotoji) placed outside the body (resonant box). Such structure is not good for our メRissouモ (vertical koto) in development. For it needs smooth surfaces rather than indent surface. In this study a trial model of koto having its strings inside the body, which is hooked and captured by bridge (kotoji) placed at inner surface of the body (box). In feasibility study using an old, used real koto we concluded that our concept of inside-out koto is workable as well. We will use this concept in ongoing design and making of 1st full-scale model of Rissou.
