Theoretical Analysis of Multi-User Interference in Uplink IFDMA

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, interleaved frequency division multiple access (IFDMA) has been attracting attention as a multiple access scheme in the uplink of the future mobile communication systems. However, since the signal received at the base station is time dispersive due to the asynchronous transmission among the simultaneous access users in the uplink, multi-user interference (MUI) occurs and the bit error rate (BER) performance is severely degraded. In this paper, we derived MUI component theoretically by taking into account of the number of asynchronous interference symbols and the amount of each user’s phase rotation, which is IFDMA specific, in the case of frequency non-selective fading. We numerically evaluate the average BER performance in asynchronous uplink IFDMA and compare the results with the computer simulation results.
