Spontaneous Speech Recognition using Speaker-Class Model and Speaker Adaptation

(in English) This paper describes a new method based on speaker-class models in order to improve the performance of an unsupervised batch-type speaker adaptation. In this method, an optimal speaker-class model is selected on a likelihood basis at recognition session. In order to improve the recognition performance further, an unsupervised speaker adaptation is carried out by using the recognition results of speaker-class model. The evaluation is conducted on CSJ (Corpus of Spontaneous Japanese). As a result, a word error rate of 21.83% was obtained in the baseline experiment. Meanwhile 18.88% was obtained by using conventional MLLR adaptation method, and 17.95% was obtained by using the proposed method. The results showed that the proposed method was effective for spontaneous speech recognition.
