Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to suppress the influence of the residual dispersion slope of the submarine NZ-DSF transmission line, we investigated about the possibility of improving the optical properties of NZ-DSFs by utilizing a Restrict Mode Excitation method to the fiber design. The NZ-DSF with negative dispersion slope of -0.009ps/nm2/km and Aeff larger than 50 m2 was successfully realized. The DPS was set to the value almost same as SMF so that both dispersion and dispersion slope of transmission line were completely compensated. The dispersion flatness applicable to the over-40Gb/s WDM transmission can be realized by the combination of fabricated fiber spans and SMF spans without additional pre- and post- DCFs. Practically single mode transmission by Restrict Mode Excitation was confirmed from the result of optical properties of fabricated fiber. It was confirmed that transmission with no power penalty can be realized by the BER measurement.
