Digital instrument shelters are weather monitoring units that are equipped with connectivity to the internet and measuring temperature, humidity, pressure, wind direction, wind speed, and rainfall at a lower cost. Since 2007, we have developed the Weather Visualization System that retrieves data from digital instrument shelters and shows the location icon of each sensor and each one of the icons plotted on the map is color-coded according to the local temperature, humidity, pressure, wind direction, wind speed and rainfall. In this paper, we report our activities until now and the problems on the installation and the operation of a digital instrument shelter during the past year. |
