A Study on Transmission Mode Selection for OFDM ISI Suppression Scheme using Periodic Signals

(in English) OFDM has become one of the most promising techniques because
of its high bandwidth efficiency as well as its robustness against the severe frequency selective fading
by using the guard interval. However, when the multipath delay exceeds the guard interval length,
the bit error rate (BER) is degraded significantly due to the intersymbol interference (ISI).
To overcome this problem, we have so far proposed the ISI suppression scheme using periodic OFDM signals.
In this scheme, the transmission mode selection is essential because two different types of OFDM symbols are transmitted according to the ISI condition.
In this report, we propose the transmission mode selection based on the BER theoretically estimated by the channel impulse response. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by means of the computer simulations.
