OFDM and SC-FDE are considered to be effective in realizing broadband mobile wireless systems because of the strong robustness against frequency selective fading channels.
In general, high terminal mobility causes severe time selective fading channels where these modulation schemes show poor transmission performance and therefore, the countermeasures for performance degradation regardless of the terminal mobility are surely needed.
In this paper, the adaptive frame length control scheme in SC-FDE is proposed to achieve reasonable transmission performance regardless of the terminal mobility. In the proposed approach, the time selectivity in fading channels is estimated by using the uplink signals thanks to the adoption of TDD and the frame length of downlink signals is controlled based on the estimated time selectivity.
The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated in comparison with the fixed frame length scheme by means of computer simulations. |
