Since the first single-mode fiber based optical transmission system, e.g., F-400M was introduced by NTT in Japan in 1983, much progress has been made in large-capacity optical fiber transmission systems during a quarter century thanks to the newly developed multiplexing technologies including OTDM/ETDM as well as DWDM/CWDM. In this presentation, we will introduce some of the key optical active/passive circuits and the all-optical processing circuits, which are indispensable for the future terabit optical transmission systems based on those multiplexing technologies. |
