Human hand affects radio-frequency devices such as built-in antennas when these devices are used by the human operator. To improve the total radiation efficiency of the antenna system covered by human hand, self-adaptive power divider configuration composed of two radiating elements combined with CSRR filters was proposed and basic characteristics of the self-adaptive power divider were evaluated with experiments as well as with the FDTD simulations. While this proposed configuration enables to increase the radiation efficiency of the total antenna system by 26 %, the available relative bandwidth is less than 5 %. This paper describes an alternative new configuration for the self-adaptive power divider in order to expand the available relative bandwidth of the self-adaptive power divider. When one of the two radiating element is covered by a human equivalent phantom, the proposed configuration shows effective adaptive power shift from the covered radiating element to the uncovered radiating element. Also, it has been confirmed that the relative bandwidth of the fabricated antenna with the proposed new configuration exceeds 30 %, which is 5 times wider than the relative bandwidth of the previous configuration. |
