A Study and Evaluation on NAT Traversal for IP Communication Systems: "Seamless Connection"

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is significant for IP communication services to use various access lines using VoIP. Because most of company networks are restricted to communicate the Internet, general NAT traversal methods can’t be applied to VoIP in the networks.
In this paper, we suggest to use STUN, HTTP tunneling and extended ICE as NAT traversal methods of media data, to apply STUN and a packet sorting appliance as the methods of signaling data. We also confirmed our proposal solves to use VoIP under various networks which are UDP transparent NAT router, UDP blocked NAT router and Web proxy.
