The development of medical device is remarkable specifically the helical type of CT device. With the conventional CT, artifact exist due to the movement, but in spite of this limitation, CT has been for the diagnosis of the chest. With helical CT, because of its superior x-ray absorption difference, it can detect small lesion which can not be seen by a simple chest x-ray. Because of these superior characteristics, early detection of lung cancer is expected. The CT can show complex vasculature in 3-D image and useful to diagnose the 3-D area which is difficult to analyze. The aim of this study is to do structure analysis of lungs and algorithm development. We extracted a detailed structure of lung from a CT image of inflated and unfixed lung specimens photographed in high-resolution helical CT and to quantitatively analyze it. |
