SAR measurement procedure for simultaneous multi-band transmission assessment and SAR evaluation method for low power transmitter.

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) measurement of a radio device that can simultaneously transmits in multi-frequency might be necessary even if the maximum radiated power of one radio system is not over 20 mW. First, we investigated the relationship between probe sensitivity and measurement accuracy based on the standardized procedures. Numerical analysis shows that the SARs on the measurement area closest to the phantom surface generated by reference dipoles are almost over the probe sensitivity of 0.01 W/kg both at 2.45 and 5.2 GHz for the output power of not less than 1 mW. Due to the steep decay in phantom depth, however, differences in 10 g average SAR generated by a reference dipole and a PIFA (Planar Inverted-F Antenna) at 5.2 GHz are -5.2% and -30.2% at 1 mW, respectively. Next, we evaluated the applicability of SAR estimation procedure using the equivalent theorem and the image theory to the SAR measurement of the low power transmitter. It is numerically indicated that our procedure can improve the measurement accuracy corresponding to antenna output power of 4 dB.
