The wireless communication technology of the vital information has been studied to achieve "Ubiquitous Medical health care" which can give us a service anytime and anywhere. In the diagnosis with it, Patient and Doctor will expect the miniaturization and the energy – saving equipment which can decrease their physical and mental loads. Furthermore, the source coding and the channel coding will be required to use the transmission capacity of the wireless system effectively, and give the tolerance against the communication path errors. This paper proposes a joint source-channel coding technology to transmit the periodic vital information such as an electrocardiogram (ECG). It shows the iterative decoding method utilizing the correlation value which can obtain from ECG periodicity as the Side-Information. In addition, the characteristic improvement when the bit strings with the different encoding rates are transmitted is also shown. Because this proposal method has an error correcting system and makes a code processing decrease, the miniaturization and the energy-saving of the equipment can be expected. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposal method is shown from the comparison against the differential pulse code modulation (DPCM), that is a typical compression method of ECG, and the uncoded-BPSK method. |
