We realized ultra-small optical switch module using an 8-input and 1-output integrated Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs) for high-speed and MG-SOA (Multi-Gate Semiconductor Optical Amplifier) switch system. We firstly designed special lenses that collect the tilted SOA beam and simultaneously magnify the pitch and beam size, and fabricated highly reliable optical module with hermetic sealing and laser-welding joints. The module exhibit a low-loss, a high channel crosstalk, high extinction ratio, and high-speed switching (~2.5ns), which confirmed that this module is applicable to MG-SOA switch systems. |
