We aim at discovering acoustic parameters corresponding to auditory impressions with elderly speech.
In this paper, adjective phrases for characterizing elderly speech are selected out in order to systematically summarize auditory impressions with elderly speech as much as possible.
First of all, 301 kinds of the adjectival are collected from several Japanese dictionaries in the various viewpoints. 10 and 11 adjective phrases with elderly female and male speech respectively, are statistically selected out from the 301 phrases based on the results of both questionnaires, which aim at excluding unfamiliar and synonymous phrases, and listening tests for excluding age-independent phrases.
To discover adjective phrases which simply and plainly indicate characteristics of elderly speech, we carried out factor analysis and multiple regression analysis based on the listening test. As the result of
factor analysis, 3 factors which are “hoarse voice”, ”non-modulated voice” and “slow utterance”, are survived for male and female speech, respectively.
On the basis of multiple regression analysis, we found that “hoarseness” is the most possible factor with elderly speech out of 3 factors. |
