NRZ, RZ long-distance fiber transmission in normal dispersion region

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page) 
(in English) Small signal analysis of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, combining with the pulse waveform of the transmitter output and the baseband filter characteristics of the receiver, enables eye opening penalties of NRZ and RZ signals to be estimated in long-distance in-line amplifier systems. This is correct in the normal dispersion region, even for the dispersion-managed lines. Numerical analysis and the small signal analysis clarify transmission characteristics of NRZ and RZ signals.
