A Study on The Suppression Method of Undesired Wave in Digital TV-based Bistatic Radar

(in English) In the bistatic radar using broadcasting waves, the sidelobes of the undesired waves can not be ignored compared to the desired signals. This means suppressing the undesired waves plays an important role to improve the radar performance. As the conventional methods, the adaptive filter with NLMS(Normalized Least Mean Square) and the sidelobe canceller are used for suppression. In former method, it has the problems which relate to the convergence time and the degradation of the target signal when the tap length is larger than the target delay. In latter method, it is difficult to suppress precisely without delay times measured with high resolution. In conventional method, the delay times are estimated by the cross-correlation between reference and undesired signals. This resolution is limited by the bandwidth of the signal, which does not always satisfy required resolution. In this paper, we estimate the delays of the undesired waves with MUSIC using SP (Scattered Pilot) signals included in broadcasting. We make the replica of the undesired waves by considering the delays and bandlimitation. We suppress the undesired waves by subtracting the replica from noisy received signals including both the desired and the undesired signals. We show the computational simulation results with comparing the conventional method.
