The end-to-end packet transfer time influences to Internet service qualities. It is known that the distributions of the packet transfer times are described as the Gamma distribution in some cases. In this paper, we investigate the reasons of the Gamma distribution using simulations. The results are: (1)the Gamma distribution appears when the distributions of waiting packets at transfer nodes are the same exponential distribution. (2)The exponential distribution appears when the distribution of the interval time of arrival packets to the transfer node is an exponential distribution. (3)The ns2 simulation results using UDP background packets conformed with (1) and (2) above described. |
