As speech I/O is comparatively new computer interface, it is required to coexist with preceding interface of GUI, that is Multi-Modal Interaction (MMI). However, mankind acquires spoken language after a long time period by coordinating it with visual interface such as gesture. MMI technology that integrates GUI and speech interface is also required to compile the knowledge of designing and to find an optimum MMI architecture and the methodologies of integrating modalities and differentiating media. In this report, issues concerning speech recognition engines and MMI systems are described. |
