Various radio access technologies have been developed and commercialized. Since available frequency band for new wireless services is limited, it becomes important to utilize radio resources efficiently by cognitive wireless network technologies. In this paper, we developed an algorithm for distributed radio resource usage optimization of legacy radio access networks. In order to balance the load among different radio access networks managed by different operators, we apply autonomous and distributed optimization dynamics of mutually connected neural networks. Since the objective function for optimizing fairness becomes fourth order equation, we introduce third order neural network to optimize it. We showed effectiveness of the proposed approach by simulation. Moreover, we also implemented the neural network based algorithm on laptop PCs with wireless LANs for distributed decision making. The results showed that this approach can optimize the total system by distributed processing on the terminal side. |
