The number of electronics components are increasing, realizing the recent demand for cars, such as IT (Information Technology), ECO (Environmental Consciousness), Comfort, and Safety in addition to the basic functions, “Drive”, “Turn “ and “Stop”. A car is a mobile object and many electronics components are installed in limited space, therefore, the consideration of EMC ability for both inside and outside of a car is necessary. In this document, we will explain EMC surroundings, our companies’ efforts for ensuring EMC ability, and evaluation method in addition to the trends of EMC directive and international standards. The first theme is how we can ensure the EMC ability. As the specific examples, we will explain the several important points, such as the components’ layout and system configuration in a car. Regarding designing circuit devices, we will show the case of low-noise microprocessor we developed. And we will introduce our design process, including D/R (Design Review) for EMC, as one of the front loading methods. The second theme is the trends of the EMC directive and international standards. Electronics components for vehicles must obey EMC directive as well as cars and it is necessary to grasp the movement of it to make our evaluation activity smooth. Therefore at first, we will explain EU (Europe Union) directive, 2004/104/EC, which is representative of the EMC directive. And next, we will explain some international standards (CISPR 25, ISO 11452), including the recent tendencies because not only the directive but also car manufactures’ original specifications refer to the test methods mentioned in the standards. The discussion for making a new standard and revising the standard are under proceeding to reflect the change of recent EMC surroundings, such that mobile phones have become widely used and a lot of digital services (Broadcast, Mobile Services) begin to be introduced. |
