Measurements of Endothelial Functions Using Impedance Pulse Wave -- Pulse Waveform Analysis before and after Cuff-deflation --

(in English) It has been considered that malfunction of vascular endothelial cells causes arteriosclerosis; post-ischemic reactive hyperemia (PRH) reflects endothelial functions. We have tried to evaluate the post-ischemic reactive hyperemia by impedance measurement at arm. In this report, we developed methods for extracting each single heart beat period (SHBP) from a sequence of impedance pulse wave and for eliminating abnormal periods. Measuring the impedance pulse wave before and after cuff-deflation for normal subjects and patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), we extracted each SHBP from them by the developed method. The time series of the extracted single heart beat waveforms shows that the post-ischemic reactive hyperemia for DM subjects is evidently less compared with that for normal subjects.
