Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is not clear how surgeons define a good image during endoscopic surgery. Modeling such a human criterion would be difficult because of its complexity. Conventional automatic camera positioning systems try to deterministically obtain it based on simple heuristics/models. However, these conventional systems may not offer the specific view that the surgeon wants. Recent studies reveal that biological systems do not require the precise model but rather make use of ``fluctuation'' in order to adapt to the environment. In this report, we propose a novel endoscope positioning method inspired by such a biological adaptation mechanism.
