We introduce the recent advances on region-of-interest (ROI) and interior tomography published in Physics in Medicine and Biology, Vol.57, pp.2207-2231, 2008. The image reconstruction problem here is to reconstruct an object on a small ROI located inside the object from limited projection data measured for only a set of lines intersecting the ROI. For a long time, it had been believed that this problem does not admit a unique and stable solution. We showed that this problem can be exactly solved by using the concept of differentiated backprojection (DBP) and a tiny a priori knowledge on the object. |
