An integrative molecular imaging system that initially consists of three subsystems offering high-resolution CT, high-sensitivity PET, and super-resolution SPECT imaging capabilities has been in development for animal imaging, in conjunction with exploration of various common platforms to carry targeting tracers and contrast agents for these respective modalities. Imaging hardware components can be assembled and de-assembled in relatively flexible configuration and geometry as desired employing moveable bench-tops and setups. We have explored a wide range of potential applications and will illustrate the usefulness and special advantages of this integrative approach in animal brain imaging studies. |
