Various signal transmission methods based on OFDM are proposed for the next generation mobile communication networks. As the required data rates get higher the conventional FFT method will have the excessive processing and power consumption problem making it difficult to develop small hand-held terminals. In order to solve the problem an OFDM signal transmission method based on Chirp-Z transform is proposed. The features are a Nyquist signal transmission method is applicable at the receiver which effectively can reduce inter-channel interferences, the timing error can be measured independently for each channel, and the power consumption can be reduced drastically if a SAW device is used for the chirp filter. The inverse Chirp-Z transform can generate the OFDM signal at the transmitter. The proposed method will be effective for the early development of the next generation mobile communication networks. |
